Thigh Lift

Nowadays, the ideal female body shape is strongly related to well-shaped buttocks and upper thighs.

Usually, following significant weight loss or due to the natural ageing process, thighs and buttocks need to be tightened. Therefore, there are an increasing number of women seeking a more youthful and better-proportioned contour of the thighs and lower body.

The Thigh Lift is addressed to women who wish to restore the anatomic functionality of specific areas of the body. This can be achieved with a combination of surgical techniques in order to achieve the best possible results.

Improving the body contour results in a lifted, more rounded, youthful and attractive lower body.

Technique

The Thigh Lift technique is mainly designed to excise and tighten overlying skin, while incisions are determined upon the extent of the skin’s looseness.

As such, if sagging of the skin is only on the inner thigh area, then the incision is made at the junction of the thigh and pubic area (inner thigh lift). If it involves the outer and mid-thigh area, then the incision is placed at the lower edge of the underwear (outer thigh lift).

In a thigh and buttock lift, the incision is made from the groin back to the crease of the buttock (gluteal crease).

A total body lift is performed in case all three areas are involved, where all incisions go all the way around the lower edge of the underwear.

In case of sagging buttocks, the volume can be increased so as to add projection and roundness either by removing excess fat from specific areas and then graft it to the abovementioned areas that are in need of refinement, or by using silicone buttock implants.

What to expect after surgery:

  • Sutures are removed within 12 days after the procedure.
  • An elastic compression garment to areas treated is required for approximately 3 weeks post-operatively.
  • Depending on the extent of the procedure, strenuous activities should be avoided for 1-3 weeks postoperatively.
  • The pain is usually minimal and easily controlled with painkillers
  • Depending on the extent of the procedure, you can return to your normal activities within 1-3 weeks.

Risks and Side Effects

There are no serious complications following a Thigh Lift procedure. Rare side effects include poor wound healing in the areas under treatment caused by their specific position, which can easily be corrected.

Useful Information

  • Quitting smoking 1-2 weeks before and after your surgery helps wound healing.
  • In certain cases, thigh lift techniques can also be combined with liposculpture techniques.
  • Proper nutrition and regular exercise ensures that harmony and symmetry of the upper and lower parts of the body will be offered longterm.
  • A total body lift is also known as a “Tanga Lift”.
